CNRR’s Achievements
- In depth assistance to the Delta community to ensure recovery and
comprehensive re-building of a focused area

displaced villagers in “Environmentally Sustainable Pilot Village” (ESPV)
Distribution of food and materials to affected areas
Between May 10th and June 3rd, CNRR assisted in clearance of 19 overseas
relief flights arriving at Yangon International Airport. We received from
various INGOs, UN and other organizations and distributed numerous relief items
to over 10,000 people in the Delta. Items distributed to the Delta include
boats, housing and school tents, “shelter boxes”, household kits, tarpaulins,
plastic sheets, water purifying tablets, readily consumable foodstuffs,
clothing, personal care items and medical supplies.
A receipt and tracking system has been maintained to monitor distribution and
minimize duplication of relief
Developed a database to track materials and volunteers used/ available for the
recovery program.
Human Resources
- Recruited 293 volunteers as well as 151 doctors, nurses and support
personal
- Provision of Human Resources from CNNR constituent entities:
Central Command centre- Executive team, and support staff
Pathein Field Office - Management team, finance and support staff
- Medical personnel: commencing 1 week after Cyclone Nargis 6 teams of
doctors, nurses, pharmacist and supporting personal dispatched by CNRR to
provide emergency medical relief at Alekyun (Middle Island) and surrounding
areas

- Logistics and transportation management and support staff
- Quantity surveyors and Supervisors for the construction of 6
Pre-fabricated buildings
- Finance and accountant staff deployed at Yangon command center and Pathein
field office
- Coordinators of local and international consultant teams
Training
Organisation and conduction of training for over 100 first time front line
volunteers ahead of their dispatch to the Delta, including psychological
support, with support and teaching provided by teams from Mercy Malaysia, Save
the Children and HUMA Japan. The training included seminars in psychological
assistance for victims and guidance in handling stress for the volunteers.
Funding
- Utilized approximately US$500,000 for immediate relief works drawn from
funds donated by CNRR’s constituent entities and supporters
- Commenced raising external funds for relief and recovery project
Partnerships
CNRR is building multi-level partnerships towards relief in the Delta at
various levels in conjunction with UN agencies, INGOs and other entities and
organisations concerned with relief efforts e.g. Red Cross, Save the Children,
World Vision, Mercy Malaysia.
Programme development
It is CNRR’s intention to raise the necessary funds for the recovery
programme through public and private organizations, INGOs, foundations and
individuals, drawn from both domestic and overseas sources. Should it prove
feasible, governmental funds would also be sought both nationally and overseas.
Communications

Communications with local and national authorities, the Delta community,
donors, co-operative organizations both domestic and international, UN, INGOs,
NGOs and other partners in the recovery project
- Production of regular CNRR Bulletins detailing the work undertaken by CNRR for
distribution to interested parties both domestically and overseas
